![]() ![]() ![]() It's important that, when making claims like all of these scientific facts from the Quran being true, you also point out that nothing within it is scientifically false. 1% of the Quran is scientifically false or can be debunked by discovered science. 80% of the science in the Quran is proven true and the other 20% is undiscovered science, so not even. The book doesn't speak about how none of the Quran is scientifically false. No other scripture in history says such a statement. It truly highlights the extremes of murder in Islam and how strictly forbidden it is. As a Muslim, I was disappointed that that verse wasn't used. It was good but some additional points could've been made.įor instance, in the stereotypes section where it talks of terrorism, they should have added Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:32 where it states that killing a person is like killing all of humanity. ![]() ![]() ![]() Red Sorghum is a chronicle of blights and massacres unleashed by the Japanese forces on the peasantry of Northeast Gaomi Province during the second Sino-Japanese War. Red Sorghum was the first of Mo Yan’s works translated by Goldblatt in 1993. The credit for Mo Yan’s introduction to the English speaking world, one may daresay to the Nobel pedestal, goes squarely to Howard Goldblatt, his translator and ardent supporter, whose transcriptions are allegedly ‘superior to the original’. The Swedish Academy sees in him an author “who with hallucinatory realism merges folk tales, history and the contemporary”. Then there are those who have likened Mo Yan to Franz Kafka, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Mario Vargas Llosa. ![]() His language has been found ‘diseased’ and ‘banal’, his authority that of a stooge and a ‘party hack’. When the Nobel Prize for Literature went his way in 2012, it was deemed a ‘catastrophe’, a ‘betrayal’ and an ‘ominous signal’ by the fraternity, including his compatriots in exile. Mo Yan is not quite the toast of the writing community west of China. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Please note these copies may contain spine and/or dust jacket damage and are unable to be returned.
